We’re all Francesca now…
We sent an email to our entire database calling everyone Francesca Blomfield.
Doh. Turns out it's one of the best things we did all week.
We were deep in the build for Revved. Summit 2026, the team are moving fast and we broke the merge tag, so "Hi Francesca" landed in every single inbox on our list.
We had two choices...
1. Die of embarrassment and pretend it didn't happen
2. Lean into it like the humans we are.
We leaned in.
We sent a follow-up, owned it completely, made it funny, kept the offer alive with a discount code called FRANCESCA and we are now doing team refreshes of our event software, seeing the ticket sales come in.
I've seen this play out before, back at Flossie we made a similar mistake and instead of hiding from it we just said yep, we're human, we got it wrong, here's what we're doing about it, and that moment of honesty connected with people more than any perfectly crafted campaign ever did.
People connect with real, and the willingness to show your flaws and just get on with it is often the thing that builds the deepest trust with your community.
So next time something goes sideways, don't cry over spilt milk or die of embarrassment, make something with it.
