Partner Spotlight - Taxi

We partner with people who move systems forward, who build with purpose, and who turn conviction into momentum. That’s why the story of Nicola Taylor and Josh Taylor, Co-Founders of Taxi and Tax Traders, hits so powerfully: they didn’t set out to reshape New Zealand’s tax system because it was easy. They did it because the status quo wasn’t serving the people it was meant to.

Their journey began with one of the boldest founder decisions we’ve seen - selling their family home and living without income for 18 months while raising three young children to bring Tax Traders to life. As Nicola reflects, “We found our way by staying focussed on our purpose, what we were hoping to achieve.” That clarity - that the tax system should be fair, accessible, and built for everyone - became the engine behind everything that followed. Tax Traders grew into one of New Zealand’s leading fintech companies, a certified B Corp recognised globally for integrity and values, powered by a culture intentionally built from the inside out.

Taxi is the natural next chapter - born not from ambition, but from responsibility. During the first Covid lockdown, Nicola and Josh helped large corporates unlock tax-backed working capital. It worked for the big guys. But it wasn’t accessible for smaller businesses.  Complex legislation and regulation meant this type of flexibility was only available to the biggest players. That realisation sparked Taxi: a fintech that takes what was once a bespoke, complicated tool for corporates and turns it into a fast, simple, affordable source of funding for every Kiwi business.

Momentum followed fast. In just over a year, Taxi has thousands of users dotted across Aotearoa and is fast becoming a beloved funding solution for Kiwi businesses of all sizes. Accountants recognised the utility immediately. SMEs found breathing room. Larger organisations adopted it too. And the potential goes far beyond convenience - NZIER estimates Taxi could unlock up to $10.8B in GDP, reduce financing costs for Kiwi businesses by up to $580M a year, and generate more than $1.2B in productivity gains through improved mental wellbeing and reduced stress. It’s a solution that doesn’t just strengthen businesses - it strengthens the people who run them.

What elevates the story, though, isn’t the economics. It’s the humanity. Nicola often says, “These aren’t just numbers - they reflect what’s possible when financial tools are built to serve people.” That belief shows up everywhere. It showed up when a Taxi-led submission helped secure a legislative change ensuring access to working capital wouldn’t affect imputation credits - a technical fix with massive real-world impact for businesses nationwide. It showed up when Taxi and Tax Traders were named Overall Winner at the Best Places to Work Awards (in 2024), recognising a culture Nicola describes as a place of “joy, satisfaction, healing and even love.” And it shows up daily in how their team builds, listens, innovates and cares.

This is the kind of leadership Revved was built for. People over logos. Purpose over posturing. Action over excuses.

Nicola and Josh’s story is proof that when values drive the work, systems evolve, communities strengthen, and momentum compounds. They’ve shown that business can be brave, fair, human - and still deliver nation-shaping impact. And that’s exactly why we’re proud to welcome Taxi back for Revved 2026 - a partnership grounded in shared values and a shared belief that together, we can drive New Zealand forward, strengthening the businesses and people who power our economy.
